Buck and House colleagues begin efforts to ease taxpayers’ burden

(STATEHOUSE) Nov. 20, 2007 - State Rep. Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) and the legislators of the 115^th Indiana General Assembly used Organization Day as the start of their efforts to ease Hoosier taxpayers’ property tax burden with permanent and comprehensive reform.

Organization Day is usually a largely ceremonial affair, with members being sworn in and little business taking place, but today’s session had more substance than usual, with the introduction of legislation dealing with the property tax crisis.

“We have spent many years debating solutions to find property tax relief,” said Rep. Buck.  “The property tax situation has been studied ad nauseam. The solution has been before us for a number of years. It is high time we work to bring permanent and substantive property tax reform.”
