WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 24, 2013 – (RealEstateRama) — Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today issued the following statement regarding the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) proposed rule to impose stricter standards on new U.S. power plants by capping emissions.

“While President Obama will be able to check off another box on his environmental agenda, he will do so on the backs of hardworking Hoosiers,” said Coats. “By requiring a standard with commercially unviable technology, this rule will increase electricity costs for Hoosiers, hurt Indiana’s manufacturing sector and put jobs at risk.”

“This is neither a Democratic nor a Republican issue,” said Coats. “I will work with my Senate colleagues to overturn this harmful regulation and instead create a truly level playing field which will ensure the most efficient and cost-effective solutions are brought to market.”
