Congressman Carson Applauds Promise Zone Designation for Indianapolis Community

WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 28, 2015 – (RealEstateRama) — Today, Congressman André Carson released the following statement after Indianapolis was named one of eight cities in the country to receive a Second Round ‘Promise Zone’ designation – a status that grants low-income communities additional support in addressing critical challenges like: education, job creation, access to affordable housing and improvements to public safety.

“The selection of the Near Eastside neighborhood in Indianapolis as one of eight communities to receive Promise Zone status offers a significant chance to transform this community and lift up its 17,000 residents. As a Promise Zone community, Near Eastside will receive technical assistance, priority for certain federal grant opportunities, and possible tax credits or loans.”

“I was honored to write to the Housing and Urban Development Department expressing my strong support for this designation. I will continue to work alongside the City of Indianapolis and the Obama administration to help this community reach its full potential.”
