Waterman: Workshop Scheduled Next Week In Vincennes
STATEHOUSE, IN – May 27, 2010 – (RealEstateRama) — State Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn) today urged Hoosiers facing foreclosures to attend a free one-hour workshop scheduled next week.
“A foreclosure prevention workshop will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 3, at the Vincennes WorkOne Center,” Waterman said. “Registration is not required to attend and homeowners may call 812-882-8770 for more information.”
Waterman said the WorkOne Center is located at 1500 North Chestnut.
“This workshop helps Hoosier homeowners understand their right to request an in-person settlement conference with their lender before foreclosure can be ordered on their home,” Waterman said. “I encourage homeowners who may be facing foreclosure and professionals working in the housing industry to attend.”
Only 2 percent of eligible homeowners have requested a settlement conference since July 1, according to an estimate from the Indiana Supreme Court’s Division of State Court Administration.
Waterman supported a law passed by the 2009 Indiana General Assembly which helped create the foreclosure prevention workshops. Attorney General Greg Zoeller partnered with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development and its WorkOne Centers and the Indiana Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN) to help make the sessions available to Hoosiers.
Most of the workshops will be at WorkOne facilities across the state and will be led by either an IFPN housing counselor or a representative from the Indiana attorney general’s office.

Waterman serves Senate District 39, which includes Clay, Greene, Knox, Daviess, Owen, Sullivan and Vigo Counties.
