French Lick Redevelopment Selected to Receive $50 Million in Allocation Authority under the New...

Washington, DC - October 30, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- Congressman Baron Hill is pleased to announce that French Lick Redevelopment CDE LCC has been selected to receive $50 million in allocation authority under the 2009 round of the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Program administered by the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund.

Ellsworth Calls for Homebuyer Tax Credit Extension

WASHINGTON, DC - October 15, 2009 - (RealEstateRama) -- A local Congressman is supporting efforts in Congress to extend a popular tax break for new homeowners. Rep. Brad Ellsworth says the First-Time Homebuyers Tax Credit has been wildly successful and should be extended for another year. Congress approved the 8,000 tax credit as part of the Economic Recovery Plan in February, but the program is set to expire on November 30, 2009.

Hill Supports Service Members Home Ownership Tax Act of 2009

The bill was passed by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote on the evening of Thursday, October 8, 2009.H.R. 3590 ensures that our service members, particularly those deployed overseas, will get equal access to the first-time homebuyer tax credit. For example, the legislation would ensure that certain payments under the Department of Defense Housing Assistance Program (HAP) are exempt from tax. And, the bill guarantees that services members will not have to repay the first-time homebuyer credit if they are called up for service overseas and forced to sell their home within three years of purchasing.
