Lieutenant Governor Skillman Awards $39,600 Planning Grant to Town of Yeoman

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman recently awarded the Town of Yeoman a $39,600 planning grant to fund a wastewater utility and storm water drainage feasibility study. The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs administers the planning grants through the Small Cities and Towns Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

“Planning grants are invaluable tools that can help rural communities improve the quality of life for their residents,” said Lt. Governor Skillman, who also serves as Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development.  “I am pleased to award this grant to the Town of Yeoman.  It shows good foresight to investigate the options available to improve your community.”

The study will analyze the town’s wastewater and storm water systems using aerial photography, land surveying, hydrology and preliminary engineering.  It will provide recommendations and assess future community service needs within the incorporated limits of the town.

The CDBG grant program has proven to be an effective tool for community-based planning and research initiatives that improve local quality of life and economic opportunities.
