Indianapolis, IN – March 6, 2012 – (RealEstateRama) — With an Indianapolis home for sale, parents no longer have to rack their minds for new and diverse ways to keep their kids entertained and safe at the time. The city constantly offers a range of children’s attractions and events, and one of these would be “The Amazing Maize: The Science, History, and Culture of Corn” from the Indiana State Museum.
Launched last September 24, 2011, the Amazing Maize exhibit promises yearlong fun for children – and perhaps adults as well – as it is slated to run until January 20, 2013. The exhibit will take visitors into an exciting journey that spans several millennia and which explore the fascinating relationship between man and corn as well as its interesting evolution.
Corn has been around for 10,000 years and is arguably considered as the humans’ greatest achievement in terms of breeding as well as domesticated plant production. The exhibit also includes displays that showcase the cultural, economic, and scientific benefits that humans have enjoyed from this “a-maize-ing” plant.
Every person has to plant 25 corn plants each day in order to meet the demands of daily living in the United States. This is just one of the many interesting bits of facts that visitors are guaranteed to learn when they tour the exhibit. Aside from a cornucopia of “corny” trivia, visitors will also find their interests permanently engaged as they attempt to find their way home through a corn maze and enjoy other activities prepared by the “Corn God” of the museum.
This exhibit is sponsored by Case IH, Ford Motor Company, and Dow AgroSciences as well as local company Indiana Corn Marketing Council. Contributions have also been made by the Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance and National Starch together with Brock Grain Systems.
Aside from “The Amazeing Maze” exhibit, the Indiana State Museum also has other events slated for 2012 and which include the Going Green Festival, the Write On: Black Poets Rock workshop, the magic Light Box for Family Saturday, and its annual summer camps.
More information about the event is available at the official website of the Indiana State Museum at http://indianamuseum.org. The museum is located at 650 W. Washington St., Indianapolis and interested parties may contact 317-232-1637 for inquiries.
