Rep. Messer responds to SCOTUS decision to delay the EPA’s Clean Power Plan

WASHINGTON – February 16, 2016 – (RealEstateRama) — Congressman Luke Messer (IN-06) released the following statement after the Supreme Court blocked the enforcement of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Clean Power Plan while litigation continues:

“I voted in December to reject the EPA’s proposed regulations on coal, and I’m glad to see the Supreme Court has stopped their implementation while litigation continues. Those of us from Indiana know that coal means jobs and low-cost reliable energy; therefore we have to keep coal part of our nation’s energy mix.

“We all want a clean environment, and it is absolutely possible to protect the environment while keeping energy costs low. But, the EPA’s radical attempt to completely change our energy sector at the cost of thousands of jobs is the wrong approach. These arbitrary regulations would cripple our state’s economy while having little, if any, impact on the air we breathe. That’s why I will continue to fight the President’s lawless executive actions and look forward to seeing this case play out in court.”
